Olá a todos! Mais uma vez aceitei o desafio do grupo Operation Tackle That Bead Stash , que neste mês de Agosto, que termina hoje, tinha como objectivo criar uma peça com quatro a seis cores dentre as seguintes: amarelo, laranja, vermelho, verde lima, azul turquesa e roxo. De uma missão que inicialmente me parecia impossível, acabei por fazer dois colares. Um com contas de vidro e acrílico e outro com muitas missangas? De qual gostam mais? Não se esqueçam de espreitar aqui as outras participações neste desafio. Hi everybody! Once again I accepted the challenge from Operation Tacke That Bead Stash to create a piece using four to six colours among these: yellow, orange, red, lime green, blue turquoise and purple. Desde que comecei a trabalhar com contas e missangas, pedem-me para compor um colar ou uma pulseira que perdeu um fecho ou uma peça e por isso não se pode usar. É um trabalho de recuperação ou de restauração que aceito com muito prazer. Since I've started beading sometimes I am asked to repair an old necklace or bracelet in which a clasp or some beads are missing. This is the kind of work that I love to do. Um colar de pérolas falsas que além um novo fecho precisava também de ser novamente enfiado. Não consegui o fecho habitual neste tipo de colares, mas ficou com este aspecto. This faux pearl necklace needed a new clasp and to be restrung with a knot between each pearl. I couldn't get a traditional clasp for vintage pearl necklaces, but this is the way it looks now. Descobri há alguns meses que gosto muito de missangas e dos trabalhos que se conseguem fazer com elas. Estou no entanto a começar a aprender as técnicas de entrelaçar missangas com fio. Aprendi a fazer o ponto tijolo ( brick stitch ) e tenho já uns trabalhos concluídos. Gosto muito de livros e se forem livros de bijutaria gosto ainda mais. Ganhei recentemente um livro num sorteio no blogue Neurobics , onde Deborah C. Stearns escreve sobre psicologia, criatividade e a vida em geral. Obrigada Deborah pela sua generosidade. É um livro que ensina a fazer contas a partir de tecidos, que podem ser algodão, seda, batik. Na segunda parte do livro, Kristal Wick - a autora, deixa algumas ideias para criação de bijutaria. I love books and if they're about jewellery I love them even more. Welcome! Alenka Obid, also known as Pepita , has celebrated her first blogoversary with a giveaway and a blog hop. I was one of the lucky recipients of her handmade art. Besides creating jewellery, Pepita designs and makes the most beautiful polymer clay components. There are 13 participants (a lucky number for Pepita) and each one received a different piece. The funny part is that even Alenka didn't know what piece she was sending to each of us. I loved my pendant. It is an S-shaped pendant in bright green with yellow hues. The challenge was launched: when I carefully looked at it, I noticed that it was top-drilled from side to side, and I thought: how am I going to hang the pendant, besides stringing? Maybe using wire to make a bail. Well, no. I'm just beginning in working with wire. And what about using seed beads and incorporate the pendant in a bead weaving design? Great idea, but my skills are limited to brick stitch. That was a lesson: I need to need to learn more beadin...

A minha última participação no desafio de Julho de Operation Tackle That Bead Stash - adoro este nome - consistiu num colar com o tradicional Coração de Viana que decorei com as cores da bandeira de Portugal. A corrente que suspende o pendente foi feita com mais de 200 argolinhas de 6 mílimetros utilizando uma das técnicas da cota-de-malha (chain maille). My participation in July challenge of Operation Tackle That Bead Stash - I love this name - was a necklace using Portuguese traditional Viana Heart charm that I decorated with the colours of the Portuguese flag - red and green. And they say that red and green can never be seen, I'm not so sure of that. For the chain, more than 200 jump rings size 6mm were weaved in flower chain maille.  Esta última foto é uma brincadeira - podemos ver os contornos de Portugal continental no mapa. In the last photo you can see Portugal's borders as if it were on a map.
